As part of its annual observance of Fair Housing Month, the Erie County Fair Housing Partnership is sponsoring a free screening and discussion of i am sam, the compelling story of a mentally challenged father (Sean Penn) raising his daughter Lucy (Dakota Fanning). Penn was nominated for a Best Actor Oscar for his tour-de-force performance in the title role, and the film featured a best-selling soundtrack of Beatles covers performed by various contemporary recording artists, including Aimee Mann, Sarah McLachlan, Rufus Wainwright, Eddie Vedder (Pearl Jam), Paul Westerberg (The Replacements), The Wallflowers, The Black Crowes, Sheryl Crow, Ben Folds, & Nick Cave.
The evening will also include a special presentation by the Self Advocacy Association of New York State. For more information about the Erie County Fair Housing Partnership and its work raising public awareness about housing discrimination, visit its website at www.ecfhp.org.
