an evening of experimental films by Blake Barit

Blake Barit is an experimental filmmaker, installation artist. educator, and programmer focused on highlighting and celebrating celluloid and the analog process of filmmaking. His filmmaking practice centers on tactile strategies of materiality including painting, scratching, and other manipulations of celluloid including the destructive process of experimental chemistry. More recently, in Buffalo, Blake has sought to take his analog processes and apply them to digital image making.

Five Years is a retrospective screening covering the first five years of Barit's filmmaking, culminating with thesis work examining the digital structures that dominate our current media relationships. Works will be screened both on film and digitally. There will be a short Q & A following the screening.
