A Mid Summer Night's Draw — ZOOM Edition

Welcome to Hallwalls' A Mid Summer Night's Drawing Rally & Silent Auction — ZOOM Edition.

Normally, at the end of July, we enjoy welcoming you all to Asbury Hall at Babeville for one of Buffalo's most exciting live art events, held twice a year since 2012. Typically 200-300 people attend our drawing rallies—to bid on art, to soak in the atmosphere of art-making and live bidding, and to revel in our exciting artistic community. For reasons known to all, we are unable to gather together with you this summer, so we decided to prepare a special version of the event.

During the month of June 2020, nine separate drawing sessions were recorded with 21 Drawing Rally veteran artists. The basic tenets of the event were followed—45 minutes drawing sessions, 12 x 18 inch paper, any media except oil paint, and any subject the artist chooses.

Artists for this special edition of our event include:
Bruce Adams, Kristin Brandt, Julia Bottoms, Kyle Butler, Tricia Butski, Caitlin Cass, Emily Churco, Patrick Foran, Fotini Galanes, Bobby Griffiths, Evan Hawkins, Tom Holt, Pat Kewley, Iris Kirkwood, Polly Little, MJ Myers, OGRE, Alicia Paolucci, Jennifer Ryan, Chuck Tingley, and Edreys Wajed.

These separate drawing sessions will be edited together into a single ZOOM Edition of A Mid Summer Night's Draw, which will premiere on our website, Facebook, and You Tube when we would normally have had the drawing rally: Wednesday, July 29, 2020 at 7pm.

The NEW wrinkle in this ZOOM Edition is that our audience will have an ENTIRE WEEK to bid on any any work which has caught their eye. Bidding begins Wednesday, July 29, 2020 at 7pm and bidding concludes Wednesday, August 5, 2020 at 7pm.

A centralized Drawing Rally page on Hallwalls website will feature the event video, images of all the completed works, and instructions on how to bid. The page will also include a backwards-counter detailing the remaining days, hours, and minutes left to bid.

The embedded video and work images will be free to view, but in order to bid, visitors will be required to register and pay $5 for a bid number.

Hallwalls is grateful to the enthusiasm of the participating artists and their hard work, drawing for your pleasure and in support of Hallwalls. Hallwalls is additionally grateful to media sponsor Buffalo Spree and event sponsor Hodgson Russ.

We hope to see you all again in person at the end of February 2021 for A Mid Winter's Draw 2021.

Until then, stay safe. Stay sane. Bid early. Bid often.
