For the 26th time since 2012, Hallwalls presents one of our twice annual live drawings. 36 artists will be drawing live in two 45 minute sessions. There is no theme. Artists will draw what they draw. It is an acutely engaging event that provides audiences the opportunity to (literally) look over the shoulder of artists as they create.
As curator John Massier notes, "The drawing rally is NOT a competition, however participating artists come prepared to deliver their best goods. Even artists who have participated previously typically come prepared—many have done practice drawings or have timed themselves to best plan out how to execute their drawing within the fixed time frame. As always, new artists are welcomed into every drawing rally, alongside seasoned veterans. In a similar fashion to our yearly Members Exhibition, the Drawing Rally demonstrates a diveristy of local art talent and serves up a sampling of the wide range of ideas and expressions surrounding us. It's an event that, for many people, remains their favorite art event of the year."
